About Christine
You may not know it when you first meet Christine Umayam but she is an accomplished young woman who has already affected the lives of thousands of people around the world.

Christine started her own non-profit organization after an eye-opening trip to the Philippines in 2006.  She witnessed children begging on the streets and scavenging through garbage just to survive.  It’s with these long lasting images that made her quit her corporate job to start Child United the following year.
Since then through her dedication and leadership, Child United has gained national and local attention.
The small organization empowers young children through education.  Christine has seen the power of learning through her own family in the Philippines and as a result she has now dedicated numerous educational resources to help children around the world.  She believes empowering one child could ultimately change their community.
“I couldn’t help BUT help these kids.  They are our future and even though I’m helping children half way around the world, I truly believe that we are all ONE.  That we should help no matter where it’s needed,” says Christine.
Since starting Child United, the organization has stepped up to help during times of disaster.  Christine spearheaded a group to send a container of relief items to the Philippines during the deadly typhoons in 2009.  They have also helped an orphanage in Haiti shortly after its devastating earthquake in 2010.
Her work has brought her national attention from a renowned organization dedicated to military servicemen.  In 2011, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society chose her as one of 10 civilian finalists around the country for the ‘Citizens Service Before Self’ award.  She is the youngest woman to have received the honor.
They say she was chosen, “for demonstrating a willingness to sacrifice for others and for changing the lives of the world’s poorest children by offering education opportunities and breaking the poverty cycle.”
Child United has also partnered with the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year.  Through this partnership, she has helped winner Efren Penaflorida build a learning center in the Philippines which helps educate thousands of children living on the streets.
Christine has been featured numerous times in the media for her selfless work with the children.  In 2011, she appeared on 3 local television stations and continues to receive recognition for her work.  Her accolades include numerous awards given by the community including the ‘Top Contributor’ award by NW Asian Weekly.
Even through her hard work with the charity, Christine is also a business woman.  She started Mogul Media Minds in 2011.  It’s a company dedicated to providing business owners and non-profit leaders media strategy and web development services.
Christine has spent 13 years in the media with a concentration of television and the multi-media platform.  She also works at Microsoft’s MSN websites where she provides online video content on behalf of the Video and Multimedia team.  It’s with this experience that she’s been able to get businesses and non-profits onto the media and provide them with multi-media solutions.
In 2011, she was able to get national media attention for one of her clients with interviews on the Today Show, Inside Edition and CNN.
Christine brings an array of experience in both the business front as well as the non-profit sector.  Her accolades in both areas provide a glimpse of what she has accomplished thus far.  There’s no doubt this woman brings credibility, integrity and dedication to everything she does.   No matter what she does, she’s able to inspire change in the lives of thousands of people near and far.
