Project United: List of Needed Relief Items
Posted on August 7th, 2012

August 8, 2012 – The facts are clear… Millions of people in the Philippines are suffering one of the worst natural disasters to hit the country. Deadly floods have already claimed the lives of more than a dozen people and have forced 850,000 people to flee their homes. Forecasters predict more rain is coming to the capital city of Manila where 60% is submerged in waist-high waters.

In response to this latest disaster overseas, Child United (a 501 (c)3 organization) is gathering donations to help with relief aid to victims.  Child United has been nationally-recognized by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society in 2011 for it’s efforts abroad and continues to make headway providing disaster relief in third world countries.

Founder Christine Umayam says, “It’s devastating to see the images on the internet.  Hundreds of thousands of people need help now.  My only wish is to be there to help… but I know our efforts here can really make a difference.  I am hoping more people will help.”

Child United’s small team of volunteers, in conjunction with PAYO (Pilipino American Youth Organization) are collecting relief items for victims. As in Child United’s history, donations will be handed personally to victims of disaster.  An event is also scheduled for August 18. Details are listed below.
